The Chinese Communist Party is not the same as the Chinese people. We support the aspirations of the Chinese people to live free of the CCP's authoritarian rule. I made this clear in my Nixon Library speech.
The Trump Administration ended decades of appeasement and misguided engagement policy toward the Chinese Communist Party. We can no longer ignore the political and ideological differences between the U.S. and the People's Republic of China, between freedom and tyranny.
Our framers understood that a nation flourishes when individuals can exercise their religious freedom. Governments should protect this right, not propagate a religious ideology. On National Religious Freedom Day, we reaffirm our commitment to protect this universal right.
The Chinese Communist Party is a threat. The people of China are not. For 50 years, America bent its knee to China. Under the Trump Administration, no more.
Today, I significantly expanded metals-related sanctions targeting Iran’s nuclear, military, and ballistic missile programs. As long as the threats remain, sanctions should too.
Americans are the most generous people on the planet, hands down, and we always will be.
The U.S. has led the world in the fight against COVID-19. $20.5 billion allocated to fund vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics, preparedness efforts, and foreign assistance. Not to mention U.S. private company donations, NGOs, faith orgs. It's an #AllOfAmerica effort.
The Trump Administration has led the global response to COVID-19 with foreign assistance funding. @StateDept and @USAID alone have provided $1.6 billion in emergency health, humanitarian, economic, and development assistance to fight the pandemic in more than 120 countries.

On any given day, Americans usually can be found in every corner of the globe. Our team brought them home from some of the most remote and inaccessible places on earth, despite closed airports, cancelled flights and other COVID challenges.
From Peru alone, we evacuated +10,000 Americans. We medically evacuated a COVID+ American from Bhutan and an ailing double-lung transplant patient from Honduras.
You probably heard about the Diamond Princess cruise ship, quarantined off Japan's coast with 3700 passengers including 220 who were COVID+. Outfitted 2 planes with biocontainment facilities to bring her 329 American passengers home safely.
When the COVID-19 pandemic started raging across Asia, our embassies and consulates in @USAsiaPacific worked 24/7 to move +1 billion PPE pieces to our partners' frontline health workers and help Americans in the region.
Travel is usually the lifeblood of diplomacy, but when COVID-19 shut it down, we didn't stop doing our jobs. Instead, we created #AirAmerica: charter flights, graytail, whatever it took to keep our team on the field for the American people.
