Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a giant of the Civil Rights Movement who called on our Nation to live up to the highest ideals of our founding. We pay tribute to the incredible life & accomplishments of Dr. King & his memory will inspire us for generations to come.
Replying to @jemelehill: This you?
Michelle Obama graciously hosted Melania Trump at the White House immediately after 2016 election to ensure a smooth transition.
Melania Trump has done absolutely nothing for Dr. Jill Biden.
Some people are givers, others takers:
If Lori Loughlin and husband Massimo got 2 and 5 months in prison respectively for the USC scandal…
How much time should the insurrectionists get for desecrating the Capitol, threatening to kill Members of Congress, attempting to overthrow the government and killing 6 people?
Kalief Browder sat in Rikers for three years without trial. He was accused of stealing a backpack.
White terrorists who attacked the US Capitol are getting released hours or days after getting arrested. And they were allowed to walk away from the attack to begin with.
Republicans will rush to redeem and whitewash their records. Don't let them. None of them are heroes, except Romney's lone vote for impeachment. Every single one, yes even you Ben Sasse, enabled and supported Trump's descent to fascism. Every single one.
For Republicans & conservative commentators seeking to foster unity, here's a phrase you could tweet or say: "I lied about election fraud in our president election last November. I apologize. President-elect Joe Biden won a free and fair election. Mr. Trump lost." #JustDoIt.
Again: the folks who helped spread the Big Lie about the election that led to the terrorist attack want to change the subject.
That’s GOP officeholders, that’s MAGA media, that’s anyone afraid of facing accountability.
Because they know they have blood on their hands.
When the crack epidemic swept through Black communities, addiction was viewed as a moral failure. Those who were addicted were vilified and locked up. When white people got addicted, suddenly addiction became a disease. Suddenly there was empathy.
It's the same thing with riots.
When Black people riot, the act itself is judged—as if it occurred in a vacuum. Instead of it being viewed as the result of centuries of oppression.
When white people riot, it's all about the factors that precipitated it. Suddenly we need to have patience and understanding.
Woke up this morning thinking about how after Abraham Lincoln emancipated the slaves, he paid slaveowners reparations. Not the enslaved. That was his way of helping to ✌🏾unify ✌🏾the country and pacify angry white folks.
Anyway, what’chall having for breakfast?
