Alex Azar, the U.S. secretary of health and human services, acknowledged for the first time that a top CDC official was correct when she warned in February that the coronavirus might cause a severe disruption to American lives.
A long overdue acknowledgement for @DrNancyM_CDC

President-Elect Biden served in he Senate for over 35 years. So he knows the plan he outlined tonight can’t pass “quickly” & will delay the 2k for hard hit Americans.
Let’s get the extra money to people first.

President-Elect Biden's COVID rescue plan will begin to provide our people with much-needed support, such as $2,000 direct payments and a $15 minimum wage.
I look forward to working with him and my colleagues in Congress to urgently provide bold relief to working families.

The US Chamber of Commerce and Bernie Sanders are both praising a $1.9 trillion fiscal relief package, and I’m sure Jerome Powell would as well.
.@JoeBiden and @BernieSanders, coordinating in power: “As the incoming Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, I look forward to working with the president-elect and my colleagues in Congress to provide bold emergency relief to the American people as soon as possible.”
America, it has been a while, but we have a President again. Thank you @JoeBiden.
We heard more constructive, wise, sensible thinking and practical ideas for containing and recovering from the pandemic tonight in a few minutes from Biden, than we have heard in the past year from the president and his entire team.
My inbox and twitter timeline are flooded with statements from Democrats (and even the Chamber of Commerce) in support of the Biden COVID rescue plan. I had almost forgotten what a coordinated policy rollout looks like.
I'm sorry if I get a little upset about erstwhile progressives denigrating upwards of a trillion dollars in financial assistance to people in need over a bit of random goalpost-moving.
Biden's team is balanced, deeply experienced, competent and committed to putting "Justice” back in DOJ. Americans got the reassurance they needed after Wed's deeply unsettling violence and mayhem. Yes, we really are moving toward an infinitely better DOJ
I’ve seen so many kind wishes tonight on this website. Thank you - and I’m sorry I can’t reply to each of you.
I’m honored by the President-elect’s confidence and will give my all to lead a talented and diverse team in a Biden-Harris WH.
